Press Release: Investment in broadband, ETNO supports lighter regulation

ETNO Chairman Steven Tas took part today in a high-level stakeholders’ meeting on “Investment in High-Speed Broadband”, organised by Commissioner Günther Oettinger. During the meeting, a range of industry, investor and consumer representatives discussed how to achieve a faster and more widespread broadband deployment in Europe.

ETNO Chairman Steven Tas said: “We welcome the Commission’s Investment plan, especially in that it recognises that there are still important regulatory barriers to investing in Europe’s digital infrastructures. Today, we voiced our support for lighter regulation and more certainty for investors, which will incentivise broadband deployment. This will be to the benefit of citizens and businesses, as better-performing networks will deliver an improved customer experience, more innovative services and a more competitive Continent”.
