Press release: Press Note: ETNO’s viewpoint on the Digital Single Market Strategy

​ETNO, the Association representing Europe’s leading telecom operators, welcomes the intense work of the College of Commissioners on the future Digital Single Market Strategy.

Putting the focus on networks, among other things, is an important step towards achieving a fully digitalised Europe, in which both citizens and businesses are empowered to grow and prosper.

ETNO Chairman Steven Tas said: “A renewed focus on investing in high-speed broadband is crucial if we are to step up network deployment efforts. Speedboat measures as well as thorough reform of the current Telecoms framework will play an essential role in the path towards growth”.

In this context, as also indicated by the Commission, a broader set of measures and actions will be needed to achieve a truly digital Europe. For this reason, ETNO published a policy paper earlier this week to contribute to the six pillars of the Digital Single Market Strategy.
