ETNO meets with US regulators and stakeholders

Washington DC, 19 May 2016 – An ETNO association delegation, representing Europe’s leading telecom operators, visited US regulators and stakeholders this week.

During the 3-day visit, ETNO delegates had the opportunity to learn more on policy and regulatory developments in the United States. In particular, it was discussed how policy and regulation on the two sides of the Atlantic can contribute to lower barriers to innovating and investing in the telecom and tech sectors. This is of utmost importance, especially at a time in which telcos are laying the ground for new consumer and business services with 5G.

As well as the ETNO office staff, the delegation included the following member companies: Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telenor and Proximus.

On the institutional side and international organisations side, delegates met with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the EU mission to the United States and the Internet Society.

On the industry side, delegates met with ETNO observer members AT&T and Verizon, as well as with USTelecoms, Comcast, Google and Facebook.
