Digital Upskilling for All project

Concluding a 2-year+ long project, the Digital #Upskilling4All consumed its closing conference last week. With the support of the European Commission, ETNO and UNI Europa have been working on identifying the best practices that will serve as inspiration for the telco sector, social partners and beyond.

“#DigitalUpskilling is not a nice to have, it is a matter of survival for ICT companies”, Ana Figueiredo (CEO Altice Portugal) said at the #Upskilling4All Conference. “There is a need for telcos to address gender balance, inclusion and #digital upskilling for all”, she added.

Our Director General Lise Fuhr added that “digital is becoming wide-spread, we need to make it inclusive. Telcos are improving at tackling gender balance, but more work needs to be done if the broad ICT sector wants to achieve the EU #DigitalDecade targets on diversity by 2030.”

Tim Van Rie, European Commission said that “there is a need for improving productivity, we can get the right support of technology in getting there”.

This can be a big one for Europe's #telecom sector (and #digital markets): TIM, CDP agree to "a single, non-vertically integrated telecommunications network operator". Means service & network are "split" in one of Europe's biggest markets

K. Kloc of @EU_Commission: "It was extremely important to support Ukraine from the beginning of this war, especially in terms of #connectivity. #Telcos have been voluntarily leading on this. We are looking into different ways of financing & supporting actions for refugees in the EU."
