ETNO AT CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, PROTECTION
AND RESILIENCE CONFERENCE

This week, ETNO’s Director of Public Policy Paolo Grassia explored the latest perspectives on threats and challenges against critical infrastructure in Romania at the Critical Infrastructure, Protection and Resilience conference. The aim of the discussion was to better understand cyber resilience, while shining the light on what motivates cyber-attacks and how cybersecurity risks can be alleviated in Europe.

Being prepared for the changing threat environment, both from a physical and cyber perspective, can benefit greatly in mitigating its impact on infrastructure assets, ensuring resilience, safety and security. Paolo noted that the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) implementation is lagging behind in Europe, with only 18 out of 27 countries having fully and correctly implemented it. However, “90% of today's web traffic is encrypted, up from 50% in 2015 – 5G will further boost the numbers by encrypting users' identity and location”.

#ThinkDigital interview: Lise Fuhr, ETNO

The third #ThinkDigital video interview from the ETNO - MLEX event on Europe's Internet Ecosystem on 16 May 2022 compiles the main messages of Lise Fuhr, Director General at ETNO.

Ms. Fuhr said: "As telecom industry, we are interested in accelerating the deployment of 5G and Fiber to the House. In order to actually accelerate the investment, we are talking about fair share in infrastructure investments, and has nothing to do with the Open Internet rules.

We support the Open Internet rules in Europe, and they are extremely important to maintan. We stand for fair digital markets, and that is a market that is not only defined by a few big tech players but has open, fair commercial negotiations.

Last but also my most important message: we need an open dialogue. We need all stakeholders around the table. Because without an open and transparent dialogue, we are not going to achieve the best for Europe
".
