Do we need SDGs for the Internet?
Last week, the 17th edition of the Internet Governance Forum took place in Ethiopia, the first one our Director General Lise Fuhr attended as part of the newly-established UN Leadership Panel.
On this occasion, the idea of SDGs for the Internet was discussed with relevant personalities such as United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, ITU Secretary-General elect Doreen Bogdan-Martin, IGF Leadership Panel Chair Vint Cerf, and Austrian Minister for the EU and the Constitution Karoline Edtstadler, among others.
Before heading to the IGF, Lise Fuhr gave an interview on whether we need SDGs for the Internet, available below.

This #ThinkDigital interview shows the role that the telco sector plays in fighting climate change and the energy crisis: by taking responsibility for its own footprint but also enabling other industries to reduce emissions and to become smarter about energy usage.
In the context of the energy crisis, the latter becomes critical for many European industries not only to fight climate change, but also to save costs.
Rachel added that “there are so many challenges in the world around us. So I think the real strength is to ensure that we as a sector, as a community, keep on allowing everyone to participate”.
