ETNO presents a study on effects of the
EU Data Act on the telecom sector

As European legislators make progress on the landmark EU Data Act, a new study commissioned by ETNO and authored by LE Europe brings a fresh perspective on the impact of the draft regulation on European telecom operators and their business models.

The study mentions European Commission figures underlining that the Data Act can unlock a series of major socio-economic benefits by 2028, including 2.2 million new jobs and a 1.98% GPD boost in EU-27. This is checked against opportunities, risks and the overall impact of the Data Act on telecoms in contexts such as business-to-consumers, business-to-business, business-to-government data sharing arrangements, as well as cloud and edge computing ecosystems.

A short new video series by ETNO explains how gigabit internet reaches you: we followed the work of telecoms experts rolling out fibre in the streets of Brussels to find out what the process is, directly from the source. Spoiler: it is hard work and it often takes on average 18 months to complete the process.

The first installment in the series focuses on costs and benefits of FTTH rollout led by telcos to bring faster connectivity across the board. Stay tuned for the next videos of the series!

Short-term holiday rentals bring value for #tourism — but also concerns about affordable housing.
Platforms must take responsibility & help local authorities.
Today we build upon the #DSA & propose rules for #DataSharing on short-term rentals https://t.co/gpPqj3smSt

Big loss for @vestager and @EU_Competition
This was an important case in taking on sweetheart tax deals. EU judges say it was for Luxembourg to define ‘normal’ tax system for comparison purposes. Not the EC.
