STATE OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS REPORT 2024: COMPREHENSIVE DATA ON EUROPEAN CONNECTIVITY

European telcos started deploying 5G connectivity in 2019, and on August 2023 Europe counted with 114 operational networks. Nowadays, 80% of Europeans have 5G coverage, up from 73% in 2022, but Europe still trails all its global peers: South Korea (98%), the US (98%), Japan (94%), and China (89%). However, only 10 networks are 5G standalone in Europe. 

Despite record investment by operators in 2022 (€59.1bn), data proves that weak fundamentals of our sector should be reason for alarm.
